If you have the skill to write an excellent article on a low energy home, high efficiency heating system or renewable technology, then we’d like to hear from you. We pay €50 p/article that is accepted, and you’ll have the honour of being published on the best online energy magazine around!
We are always on the lookout for guest writers to contribute articles to The Carbon Post. We believe that everyone has something unique to share and if you are interested then don’t hesitate to contact us.

We also accept small snippets that may be of interest to our readers such as a product launch, upcoming talks/seminars, industry news etc – unfortunately we don’t pay for these.

What are we looking for

Area of interests:

Articles: Unique topics and fresh ideas that provoke intellectual discussion among a knowledgeable web audience and will make an impression on them.

Inspirations: Success stories, case studies, excellent sources and resourceful lists for high quality goodies.

Showcases or Roundups: There’s plenty of information out there so why not make an article by rounding up some of the best resources on the web.

Freebies: Everybody love something for free. If your company wants to supply a product or a service to one of our readers then why not come up with a competition and run it on the site.

Criteria

You must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Please note not every article will be accepted. (If you want to pitch an idea for an article then please contact us prior to writing the article)
  • Your article must be your original work and not published elsewhere.
  • Your article may be edited prior to publishing.

    • If the article is accepted:

  • You grant a license to readers to use the knowledge demonstrated in the article in their own projects without reference to yourself or this site.
  • You grant a license to The Carbon Post to be the exclusive publisher of the article online. You may republish extracts online, for example on your own site, however the article in its entirety should not appear elsewhere. You may also republish the article offline in any way you wish, e.g. sell it to a magazine, submit it to a book.
  • You consent to the full article, extracts, samples or examples from it appearing in other Carbon Post sites, products and services.

    • Photography and Source Images

    Some articles make use of photos (we encourage you to use photos which enhance the article). There are a few things you need to know in this regard:

    1. DO NOT use images from Google Image search or simply taken from a website
    2. DO NOT use images from Flickr UNLESS they have a Creative Commons License for Commercial Use. In this case you must provide an attribution link back to the Flickr page you found the image on. Note you can find CC Commercial images on Flickr using their Advanced Search feature.
    3. DO use images you photographed yourself
    4. DO use images from free stock sites like SXC.hu and StockVault.net, BUT make sure you check the agreement for use in files for distribution. Sometimes you need to ask permission from the photographer.

    Please include links to the source of any images you have used in your article wherever it has been used. If you do not include your image sources your article will not be accepted, because we need to verify that the file is OK.

    Thank you for taking the time to make sure the photos are OK, it helps protect the site, the photographer and yourself!

    Credit All Sources and Use Common Sense

    Always credit your sources
    When you credit your sources, it’s clear that you aren’t trying to hide something. For article submissions it also lets our editors check that the article is acceptable.

    Use common sense and err on the side of caution
    There are no hard and fast rules about copyright. Beware of “rules” like ‘copying 40% is OK’, there’s no such thing. And remember that even aside from exact words or images, it can be the idea or principle. If you think something might not be OK, then trust your gut and don’t do it.

    Article Acceptance and Payment

    Please note, not all articles will be accepted. We only accept articles that match the site’s standards of both writing and article content.

    If your article is accepted, payment of €50 will be made within the first two weeks of the new month following publication. Please note that if we gain evidence in this time that the article or source images used in the article have been plagiarized we will take the article off the site and payment will not be made.

    Get Feedback BEFORE Writing the Full article

    You can send in an article pitch and a single photo to us for review prior to writing the whole article. This will save you time in instances where the article/image is not what we are looking for. Send your pitch and we’ll get back to you ASAP
